Jeremiah is now in jail. Nobody believes him. People hate him. He’s got no friends.

Jeremiah 33: 1While Jeremiah was still locked up in jail, a second Message from God was given to him:

2-3“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’

It’s such a huge statement and I almost passed it by while I was looking for something profound. Ha! We’re used to seeing it: the promise of the Lord to hear us, to be with us; but today, God’s invitation to Jeremiah hit me in a new way.

God wants us to call on Him. He wants to tell us marvelous things. He desires, not simply for our company, but to transfer His wisdom to us. He wants a give and take, a relationship.

He didn’t wait for Jeremiah to use the “right” words or the “correct” scripture references for help! Relationship with God is not a math equation! No! It’s more like this:

It’s not complicated, is it? All we’ve got to do is call. Even in prison, with God, we are free.
