How confusing for David. God visited him, pointed him out among all his brothers, anointed him, gave him a place in the palace. I bet he didn’t imagine that in a short amount of time he would go from the courts of the king to damp caves. It looks as if he was demoted. He looks as if God forgot him.

A lesser man would have cursed God and turned away from Him, but not our friend David. He still has faith in God:

56: 8 You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book.

Sometimes it takes a long while to see God’s promise revealed. He often tells us the secrets of His promise way before they come to pass. On those days when the promise looks so far away, it is important for us to have faith. Those are the Psalm 56 days. Those are the days when we must remember that God knows us. He knows every part of us. He remembers His promises and this road that we are on is a road to that promise.

Have faith, dear friends. He is faithful to His word. He knows you. He gave you those dreams. He will bring them about.
