These chapters give a long list of hings that the Israelites must do in relation to Levites, prophets, murder, sanctuary, battle and even housing, but the word that kept sticking out to me was the word “when.”

The Lord was not just giving haphazard directions through Moses, he was prophesying to the people. Take a look…

Deuteronomy 17: 14 When you enter the land that God, your God, is giving you and take it over and settle down, and then say, “I’m going to get me a king, a king like all the nations around me,”15 make sure you get yourself a king whom God, your God, chooses. Choose your king from among your kinsmen; don’t take a foreigner-only a kinsman.

Deuteronomy 18: 9 When you enter the land that God, your God, is giving you, don’t take on the abominable ways of life of the nations there.

Deuteronomy 19: 1 When God, your God, throws the nations out of the country that God, your God, is giving you and you settle down in their cities and houses,

Deuteronomy 19: 8 When God, your God, enlarges your land, extending its borders as he solemnly promised your ancestors, by giving you the whole land he promised them

Deuteronomy 20: 1 When you go to war against your enemy and see horses and chariots and soldiers far outnumbering you, do not recoil in fear of them; God, your God, who brought you up out of Egypt is with you.

Each one of these things comes to pass. When Your God says that He is going to do something, you can take it to the bank. He is good to His word, as He as proven time and time again in The Bible and time and time again in the lives of others. It may not look just like you think it will look, but it will happen. We serve a mighty, righteous, honest God. Praise be His Holy Name!!
