Numbers 6: 24 The LORD bless you, and keep you; 25 The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; 26 The LORD lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.’
These were the words given by the Lord for the sons of Aaron to speak over the people. The Lord then followed them up with this amazing sentence:
27 So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I will bless them.”
He will bless them. It is His plan to bless them. He wants to pour out blessing from heaven down on them. They don’t have to do a thing!
Whoever said that God was really mean in the Old Testament must not have read it. His mercy is on every page. He has redeemed their lives from slavery, saved them from death, has taken care of their every need, tells them exactly where to go, has promised them a new land where they will be able to be fruitful AND ON TOP OF THOSE THINGS: He wants to bless them. What more could they ask for? What else do they need?
What else do we need? He has redeemed our lives from the pit, has crowned us with loving kindness, provided for all we need, sent His Holy Spirit to lead us, has gone to prepare a place for us and wants to give us, not just life, but life abundantly.
He is good! Praise Him! Amen.
